The Begginging for Norris'
Pine Knot Camp came into my family in 1982, when I was 2 years old. After an all-too-short French River vacation stay at Pine Cove (when my parents and I stayed "just one more day," THREE TIMES!), my dad happened to ask Bob O'Hara if any property ever came up for sale on the river. As luck would have it, a friend of Bob's had mentioned wanting to sell his cabin just days before. After a 12 hour drive back to Columbus, Ohio, my dad, with my mom's brother, Parker Scherrer, flew back up to check it out again. They decided to purchase the place together as a summer retreat for their families. Dad didn't have "vacation home," budgeted that year, but he made it work by taking a cash advance on the credit card! This was something completely out of character for my banker father, but it was certainly one of his better lapses in judgement.

  1. I love that story. I'm so glad you're up on here. Now I just need to add you to the main french river blog!
